Ok, since I've gone back through the assignment and read more about what to do, I've decided to make running posts and keep a record this way. I'm going back to my written notes and blogging what I had in my tech notebook I made. :) (I made a 40 cent composition notebook crafty with my mad scrapbooking skills!)
October 30th (Remember, I'd been taking notes and now I'm blogging them!)
Free Technology for Teachers: I learned about a great new creative storytelling site called "projeqt". It's a creative storytelling platform where you can upload any kind of picture and turn into a slide show presentation. You can save projects into a group or just have an individual slide. You can them turn your pictures into a story by adding text, if you like, to make your story.
I can really see the applications by students/teachers to share their stories or drawings into a digital story (almost like comic strip cells). {On a later side note, I actually used this to create my PLN visualization project. The site was amazingly simple to use! I loved it and had a lot of fun with it. I won't lie... I went over the 30 minute mark playing}.
EducationWorld: An article about "KindleFire-is it all the rage of the iPad?" This could be promising in education with ties to Amazon and Android Marketplace. The KindleFire is smaller size than iPad and great for elementary kids. The KindeFire is much less expensive and may be able to access textbooks through Amazon without buying. There is also the possibility to rent textbooks.
NPR: The topic of one news article was the Ohio labor campaigns associated with Issue 2. This is a very big issue and very divisive among people of Ohio. People seem to be unsure of the depth of both sides arguments.
I learned about several new "tools of the trade". This keeps me up to date on what's happening and what I should be learning to do in technology world. I learned about a new free resource to try in the classroom. :)
