Rss Feeds #1

This is my first post of an ongoing collection to follow my RSS feeds.  (I first started this on my mac computer but, he died today. :(  We took him to the Genius Bar at the Apple store and they couldn't even get him to boot up with diagnostics; so they have to send him off to be fixed.)  So, I had started collecting feeds on the other computer and had an "older" first screen shot, but with mac dieing, so did the first RSS screen shot picture.  Oh well.  I"ll have to start with this picture and let it grow from here...

First RSS Feeds Screen Shot

Now, Since I had already had another screen shot, I'd been following my feeds for some time and been taking notes.  I'll share some of what I've learned now, and will post more for continuing reader pleasure (and my own learning).

October 29th
EdtechSandyK: I learned about her ideas for professional development.  She had some great thoughts that these courses needed to have more learning/play time during technology professional development.  We need to be able to practice what is learned.  All people can learn and share valuable insights.  I had also posted a comment on her blog about being able to have more learning/play time for technology.  And that it is very valuable for teachers who are unsure with their skills.  (However, when I checked back, the author of this blog had not yet posted this comment publicly).

The author also had a great article about building a PLN (personal learning network) by using social media to gain insights from others.  Friends can be sounding boards for ideas and resources.  With a PLN you can use social bookmarking, tag and organize shared sites and ideas.  Blogging can share thoughts with others, and others can comment for feedback.  You can also see who your "friends" follow and gain even more contacts.  I thought this was a great article that cam at just the right time in our class.

So far I've learned many new ideas and have added to my knowledge about this class.  Had I read this PLN article before this class, I would have been completely lost!  But now that I understand what this is, I can add this to me "teacher bag of tricks" for personal and professional improvement.
